This position offers the opportunity to work on engineering and geotechnical projects in a multi-disciplinary project team environment. In this role, you will be responsible for developing cost-effective, practical geotechnical engineering designs and construction solutions for our clients. This immediate need requires the applicant to have strong technical design skills, with communication and organizational skills to manage projects and act as a technical resource for the team.Your Key ResponsibilitiesWorking on a variety of small to large projects spanning from transportation, residential, commercial, and industrial developmentsDeveloping project scopes, budgets, staffing, and schedules for proposal preparationManaging geotechnical investigations, including field coordination with subcontractors, laboratory testing schedule preparation, documentation of the results, and budget managementSupervising field staff working on field work and testing, which may include borehole drilling, test pit supervision, construction site review, rock anchor testing, and slope stability assessments (rock and soil)Managing clients and contractorsDesigning and assessing geological and/or geotechnical systems involving foundation design, slope stability, settlement analysis, soil improvement, and othersPreparing proposals, geotechnical reports, and technical memorandumsOther general field and office-related duties as requiredYour Capabilities and CredentialsIndependently motivated, innovative, and enjoys collaborating with a teamStrong technical skill setProficient user of geotechnical software applicationsAble to engage in creative and critical thought within a project team settingDemonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced environmentStrong oral and written communication skillsBilingual communication skills are considered an assetValid Driver’s LicenseEducation and ExperienceMinimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil/ geological engineering from a recognized university and a postgraduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Geological Engineering.Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical consulting is requiredProfessional Engineer in good standing with provincial associationExperience with rock mechanics, mining, tunnelling, and numerical modelling are considered assetsTypical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$78,900.00 - $114,400.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
