We steward precious resources by finding more sustainable solutions.Job SummaryTYLin is seeking a Lead Bridge Engineer with bridge design experience to serve as a lead design engineer for the Vancouver office. The Lead Bridge Engineer position requires leadership capabilities and technical expertise in bridge design and structural engineering, including complex bridges. The engineering duties include leading engineering teams; planning and scheduling of engineering work; interaction with local agencies, design-build contractors and other clients; and performing advanced designs. This position will also manage and mentor junior and intermediate engineers as the team grows.Responsibilities & QualificationsLead an engineering team for delivery of bridge projects, including complex bridge projects, through all design phases, from conceptual to detailed designs.Perform design and analysis of complex concrete and steel bridge structures, prepare plans, specifications and cost estimates in accordance with applicable standards.Develop quantities and expected construction cost estimates and scopes of work, develop schedules, and budgets.Conduct quality control activities for independent review and checking of structural designs.Manage and mentor junior, intermediate and senior engineers, overseeing staff utilization and provide for timekeeping approval.Interface with clients for project delivery.Assist with business development and pursuits of projects.Lead the proposal preparation effort for bridge design projects and attend interviews.Other assignments as needed.Qualifications:Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in structural design preferred with 12 years + of relevant experience in bridge and structural engineering.Experience with complex bridge projects, including cable-stayed and suspension bridges.Hold a professional engineering license, in good standing, in the Province of British Columbia.Understand and apply the current Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code CAN/CSA S6, AASHTO LRFD Code and related standards to bridge analysis and design.Working knowledge of MTQ standards (Tomes, Manuals, CCDG) is an asset.Proficient in leading technical aspects of bridge projects, writing reports, preparing drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations.Excellent organizational skills.Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients’ toughest challenges.High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.Additional InformationTYLin offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
