You will ensure Vancity’s owned and leased properties meet the changing organizational needs, while providing safe, secure and sustainable spaces for members and staff to thrive.This competitively rewarded role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. Periodically, in-person events or activities will be required of you.A typical day will involve:
  • Manage owned property and commercial leased assets for Vancity, including identification of potential new sites for relocation or expansion of services.
  • Develop and execute on the organisations long term real estate strategy
  • Negotiate commercial leases (new and renewals), tenant subleases, acquisitions and disposal of properties so that Vancity is able to occupy properties at market or better rates with maximum flexibility and minimum risk
  • Negotiate and award service contracts and monitor those contracts so that third party contractor services meet agreed upon service levels.
  • Manage a team that oversees all property administration services, including documentation management, property audits, and department budget planning and expenditures.
  • Deliver on the objectives defined in the organization-wide sustainable operations/net-zero strategy, to embed sustainability into all leased and owned properties
  • Resolve disputes relating to Vancity’s commercial real estate agreements
You have:
  • Undergraduate degree in related discipline (Real Estate, Urban Land Economics)
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in commercial real estate (including real estate search, lease negotiations, property management)
  • Real Estate Trading Services Licence or Rental Property Management Services Licence are not required, but desirable.
  • People leadership skills to engage with supervisors/team leads, professionals, and/ or other staff and carry out all people practices.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills to diagnose challenges and issues and develop innovative business solutions and assess risks and opportunities that may affect the unit and or designated unit. Very strong administration skills and attention to detail required.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to create a clear understanding of expectations and address challenges and issues for the business unit, and represent the unit across the organization

Salary range: The salary range for the role is $102,200 to $153,200 and a candidate’s offer is likely to be up to the mid-point of the role ($127,700).
