- Project Management & Execution
o Ensure projects align with corporate goals, timelines, and budgets, especially those focused on sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
o Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., Projects, Operations, Community Strategic Development, etc) to ensure the seamless execution of projects. * Regulatory Compliance & Reportingo Ensure projects comply with environmental and social regulations.
o Support the preparation of applications and reports for internal leadership, regulatory bodies, and sustainability disclosures.
o Track and report on project KPIs. * Sustainability Policy Alignmento Support the execution of the company’s sustainable development policy.
o Evaluate special project proposals against sustainability objectives and compliance requirements. * Stakeholder Engagemento Oversee the corporate stakeholder management system (Staketracker) ensuring that data is updated, managed for QA/QC and mined to meet corporate reporting needs.
o Support the development and implementation of engagement strategies with local communities, Indigenous groups, government agencies, industry advocacy groups and NGO’s
o Ensure special projects reflect stakeholder input and meet local regulatory and cultural expectations.
o Support consultation processes and prepare communication materials as needed. * Innovation & Best Practiceso Research and introduce innovative technologies or practices that enhance sustainable and cost-effective outcomes for the department and company (e.g., remote monitoring, renewable energy integration, circular economy).
o Benchmark against industry best practices and apply continuous improvement methods. * Risk Identification, Mitigation & Growtho Identify regulatory and ESG-related risks and develop mitigation plans for special projects.
o Conduct environmental and social impact assessments as required. * Budget & Resource Managemento Develop and manage project budgets and resource allocation.
o Track expenditures and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
o Provide general support and expertise for the department in developing requests for proposals and contractor scopes of work * Capacity Building & Internal Collaborationo Provide guidance and training to internal teams on regulatory and sustainability-related initiatives.
o Promote regulatory and sustainability awareness across departments involved in project delivery. * Data Collection & Analysiso Oversee the collection and analysis of environmental and social performance data relevant to special projects.
o Use data to support decision-making, performance tracking, and external reporting. * Performance Monitoring & Evaluationo Set performance metrics and conduct regular evaluations to assess project success.
o Recommend corrective actions or optimizations as needed. * Other duties as assigned.Main Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, environmental science, resource management, or related field
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, environmental science, resource management, or related field Preferred
- At least 10 years Experience in working with and/or leading special projects in the areas of regulatory compliance and/or ESG
- Direct experience with the Environmental Assessment processes in Canada-Preferred
Experienced in mining operations. * Proficient in MS applications (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook, Projects)
- Experience with EPCM and/or permitting
- Ability to work pro-actively and with limited oversight
- Ability to work to tight timelines and under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff, clients, and consultants.
- Ability to communicate and interact with government officials (both verbally and in writing).
- Ability to effectively communicate with Inuit communities.
- Leadership skills
- Results-oriented with strong project management and analytical skills.
- Flexibility to travel to remote northern locations, as required (10-15% travel).
- Strong ability to provide assessments and opinions related to permitting in a group setting.
