- This individual is responsible for working with production to identify process gaps within the Cold End and prioritize these needs in order of importance. Safety of equipment operation will be the top of these priorities, followed by improvement in product quality, yield, and operator usability of machines. This person is responsible for addressing day to day issues and obtaining a high level of knowledge to become the technical expert for Cold End automated equipment.
- This individual will be responsible for achieving a high level, working knowledge of the systems employed in the Cold End. This individual will ensure that these systems are properly maintained, operate at a high standard and are kept current with changes in the industry. These systems will include the following:
- Host Computer
- Base Glass Inspection System
- Strain and thickness instrumentation
- Grenzebach Cutting System
- Millennium Controls System
- PLC Leg Controls
- AC drive systems
- APC system
- Vision Systems
- Electronic Reporting System
- Stacking Equipment
- Other systems not listed
- This individual will be responsible for training the production supervisors and the appropriate hourly employees on the above systems so that they have a better understanding of how these systems interface with each other and to gain more troubleshooting knowledge.
- The process engineer will help oversee and coordinate maintenance activities to ensure that maintenance resources are effectively utilized to raise equipment uptime to world class levels. This effort would include the review of preventive maintenance activities, identification of maintenance tasks, and prioritization of projects. This individual will work with maintenance & engineering personnel and other departments on the justification and installation of capital projects in the Cold End with the goal of achieving plant performance goals while minimizing capital expenditures. They will work with maintenance on a regular basis in the area of downtime prevention. This individual will also be responsible for providing technical support during non-working hours in the event of a problem that shift personnel cannot address.
- This person will be the lead in Continuous Improvement activities for all processes including but not limited to cutting, inspections, quality, breakouts, snapping, stacking, and ribbon utilization.
- This individual must always maintain a positive relationship with this facility’s employees so that the focus remains on the obstacles and barriers preventing the facility from attaining the goals for the facility.

- BS in engineering field or similar field.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform the above tasks based on “on the job training” and/or practical application.
- Previous supervisory experience
- Green Belt or Black Belt
- Previous Glass manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience with PLCs
- While performing the duties of this position, the associate frequently works around moving machines, chemicals, and high temperature in an industrial environment.
- The associate occasionally must travel by commercial means or private transport.
- The role can involve prolonged periods of standing and walking, often exceeding 8 hours per day.
- Candidates must be able to climb stairs, crouch, kneel, and maintain balance in various working environments.
- The position also requires the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds, occasionally over 20 pounds.
