Are you ready to drive success?For more information, visit or follow us @SyscoCanada at ; orFor a full list of opportunities, visitRole:In support of the Corporate Controller and the Controllership group, this position is responsible managing and leading the consolidated reporting process including including weekly management reports and month-end reporting packages. This position will play an integral role in the development of accounting policies & procedures and process standards, as well as analyzing Financial performance (Cost and Revenue drivers) for the business groups. The position interacts with various departments throughout Specialty Canada to resolve finance issues as well as reporting financial results and general ledger activity.Role Responsibilities:
  • Supervises and directs the work of various levels of Finance individual contributors.
  • Responsible for the training, and performance management of finance associates
  • Ensure effectiveness of the finance team, continually looking for efficiencies and process improvements within the department, as well as working with other departments
  • Activities may include:
  • Providing timely and accurate financial reporting to the regional Management team as well as the Corporate office
  • Reviewing and approving monthly balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries and financial reporting packages and ensure outstanding items are investigated and resolved in a timely manner
  • Monitoring spending and hold departments accountable to budget
  • Coordinating annual self-assessment internal control testing, process documentation and liaise with internal and external auditors
  • Coordinating and reviewing the completion of the annual tax package
  • Assisting with annual budget process and monthly forecasting process
  • Preparation and analysis of financial information to assist management in increasing profitability
  • Participate in shrink committee
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, Sysco’s financial reporting policies as well as other Company policies and standard operating procedures
  • Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
  • Understands that their role is critical in creating a safe organization with minimal environmental impact and the value that brings to the organization.
  • Is willing to drive Environmental, Health and Safety performance by acting as an example and holding their team accountable to complying with EHS programs, policies, and requirements.

Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements (About you):
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience working in a finance/accounting role.
  • Minimum 3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Completion of post-secondary education in accounting; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • CPA designation
  • MBA an asset
  • Intermediate skills with MS Excel and proficiency in Word and Outlook
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing with access to a vehicle is required. Some travel may be required (up to 10%).
