
Assistant Controller

- Supervises and directs the work of various levels of Finance individual contributors.
- Responsible for the training, and performance management of finance associates
- Ensure effectiveness of the finance team, continually looking for efficiencies and process improvements within the department, as well as working with other departments
- Activities may include:
- Providing timely and accurate financial reporting to the regional Management team as well as the Corporate office
- Reviewing and approving monthly balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries and financial reporting packages and ensure outstanding items are investigated and resolved in a timely manner
- Monitoring spending and hold departments accountable to budget
- Coordinating annual self-assessment internal control testing, process documentation and liaise with internal and external auditors
- Coordinating and reviewing the completion of the annual tax package
- Assisting with annual budget process and monthly forecasting process
- Preparation and analysis of financial information to assist management in increasing profitability
- Participate in shrink committee
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, Sysco’s financial reporting policies as well as other Company policies and standard operating procedures
- Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
- Understands that their role is critical in creating a safe organization with minimal environmental impact and the value that brings to the organization.
- Is willing to drive Environmental, Health and Safety performance by acting as an example and holding their team accountable to complying with EHS programs, policies, and requirements.

- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience working in a finance/accounting role.
- Minimum 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Completion of post-secondary education in accounting; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
- CPA designation
- MBA an asset
- Intermediate skills with MS Excel and proficiency in Word and Outlook
- Valid driver’s license in good standing with access to a vehicle is required. Some travel may be required (up to 10%).
