- Deliver on all aspects of Safety – plant/employee performance, safety initiatives, training, corporate and divisional KPI, TSSA requirements, JHSC participation, etc.
- Supervise regular plant activities and special projects.
- Organize and execute safe and efficient plant maintenance turnarounds.
- Interact regularly and effectively with employees, internal customers and external customers. Build strong relationships with remote AP contacts and contractors.
- Ensure production output to meet delivery of product to customers, and to meet standards of quality required by the customers.
- Adhere to the established operating budget to help the Corporation set and maintain competitive and profitable prices.
- Find opportunities to improve the efficiency of the plant and to increase supply while working with the business area in this capacity.
- Foster teamwork and create an environment for inclusion.
- Ensure compliance and facilitate mandatory training regarding all activities according to APCL procedures & policies and governmental regulations (local, provincial, and federal) Including but not limited to (TSSA, TDG, MOECP, MOL).
- Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring follow up items are completed, documented, and communicated as required.
- 3rd Class Power Engineer Certificate required
- 5 years minimum of industry experience in similar plants or process operations of similar complexity
- 3 years of supervisory experience a must
- Ability to eventually fulfill the regulatory designation of Chief Power Engineer
- Demonstrated commitment to EH&S with a track record of success on Safety, Environmental and Quality
- A strong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity/inclusion
- Ability to effectively interface with support groups and develop a strong network of contacts
- A self-starter with proven leadership abilities
- Strong organizational and decision-making skills
- Able to shift and respond to changing priorities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must have strong computer skills, MS Office, Outlook. SAP experience knowledge a plus.
