Job DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?Payments Transformation is a multi-year, transformational program within Enterprise Payments in the Personal Bank COO Office. In addition to managing the day to day industry affairs for RBC, our mandate also includes influencing and then integrating regulatory payment changes. Working with internal stakeholders, regulators, system operators and other FIs, we enhance our enterprise payment capabilities for a variety of payment types. Our role in the organization is unique reaching across consumers, businesses and institutional clients to improve the payment flows that occur every day. Primary external organizations include Payments Canada, CBA, SWIFT and Interac all of whom are drivers of change in Canada.Our vision is to deliver innovative solutions which drive material, attributable and impactful business value using insight driven methods, aligned to RBC’s goals and objectives. Our group works beyond the traditional execution space, and supports businesses in their strategic decision making and solution design.We’re on the lookout to have a high potential individual to join the team as a Director, Payments Transformation to drive client and business value through our exciting transformational program. We’re looking for someone who can think beyond the norm, connect the dots and provide leadership to the foundational business planning and ongoing monitoring that is required to ensure successful execution of the programs deliverables.What will you do?Facilitates and influences the development of execution strategy through business insights and thought leadership, ensuring programs are aligned to business and segment strategies and outcomes are tied to measurable business value.Leads, directs and oversees activities on planning, delivery and implementation to ensure program strategic goals and objectives are accomplished within approved time frames, scope and budget.Leads the development and approval of Project Approval Request (PAR) for the program streamsUses insights and influence to ensure programs pivot, accelerate or stop to react to the changing environmentManages programs with high amount of value (benefit/cost), complexity and uncertainty/ambiguity; ensures resources are applied to areas of greatest impact and valueActs as a thought leader and provides insight-driven solutions to business problems in alignment to business/segment/organizational strategiesChampions strong program communication including senior executive briefingsManages overall business program financials and tracks value for effective decision makingWhat do you need to succeed?Must-have:10+ years of experience leading programs with high level of value (benefit/cost), and very high level of complexity and uncertaintyUndergraduate degree or equivalent experienceExpert knowledge of paymentsAdvanced knowledge of change managementAdvanced communication, presentation and facilitation skillsNice-to-have:Strategy or Business Architecture experiencePMP and/or PgMP certificationAdvanced knowledge of the industries that comprise the financial sector (banking, investment, insurance, trust)What’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
