  • Overall responsible for preparation and implementation of Survey procedures and guidelines. •
  • Overall responsibility for the planning and performance of all activities performed by the Survey & Inspection Department in Canada within and support same for NA Region, and is accordingly also responsible for systematically monitoring the department's activities and ensuring that the department is complying with company HSEQ objectives.
  • Support planning and performance of all activities related to investments in Survey related technology, equipment and software within North America Region.
  • Responsible for the recruitment of personnel and utilization of personnel based on sound forecasting principles and a documented plan, to complement the strategy and planned direction, mission and vision of the Survey & Inspection deliverable to Company.
  • Ensure that relevant law and industry standards are followed for work performed by the department.
  • Support the HSEQ Manager in the preparation and implementation of department HSEQ procedures.
  • Establish, implement and execute training plan for all department personnel.
  • Monitor and follow up daily field and operations' reports, procedures and all document deliverables to both internal and external clients.
  • Evaluate the department's working processes and implement necessary corrective and preventative actions. Stay continually aware of those critical activities being performed on board vessels that consume expensive vessel and project time.
DUTIES/TASKSTask can include, but are not limited to:
  • Demonstrate a good understanding and control of the cost-and-income situation for the department, including budget and forecasts. Pay particular attention to major purchases and the consumption of major and vital consumables. Be especially aware of the costs associated with the use of third party personnel and how that impacts internal personnel resource utilization.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement and constantly seek leaner, smarter and more efficient ways of working.
  • Adhere to all guidance and instructions outlined in the EMS (Environmental Management System) being an integrated part of the HSEQ system.
  • Stay abreast of technology development and participate in conferences and exhibitions within the field.
  • Keep track and maintenance records, either directly or indirectly through members of the Department, of all Survey equipment, software, procedures and methods used within the Company.
  • Make sure through good maintenance and correct use of survey equipment that the regional target of less than 2% breakdown is achieved.
  • Cooperate with all offices to ensure that all companies follow the same standards with regard to methods, procedures, and quality.
  • Set KPIs for the Department and report through metrics, where possible, the overall performance of resources (both equipment and personnel) and how this positively and negatively affects the Department's ability to support operations.
  • Be involved in all development and R&D activities regards to survey methods, procedures, internal and external software development.
  • Establish documented annual plan incl. securing of qualified personnel and required equipment.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the contractual and technical requirements for planned and ongoing projects. Establish performance criteria related to projects, in cooperation with other departments. Ensure that the appropriate parts of these requirements and criteria are understood and followed by all department personnel.
  • Conduct annual appraisals of all individuals in the department
  • Provide input to the Regional Management Team when Survey & Inspection is discussed at the highest level, such as inter-regional or board, within the Company.
  • Allocate department resources according to the requirements of other departments / offices and inline with the Company's project needs, to ensure an efficient and cohesive response is provided to those requiring Survey assistance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Preferred but not mandatory)Education (Experience can compensate for lack of formally proven competence)
  • Education in surveying, Geomatics or other relevant education.
Experience
  • Minimum ten years of experience from relevant industry.
  • Management experience from such as quality management, project management and mid-level supervision techniques is desirable. (Training program can compensate for lack of experience)
