CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRIST - Eating Disorders ProgramGeneral Summary:This prominent children's hospital in Ontario is seeking a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for their Eating disorder program. Our client, a 150-bed pediatric hospital in Ottawa, ON, Canada is seeking a child and adolescent psychiatrist to work in their Eating Disorders Program. The job is full-time and permanent, with membership in the Psychiatry Associates.Academic Setting and Duties:The large multidisciplinary care team for our clients Eating Disorders Program, comprises psychiatrists, adolescent health physicians, nurse practitioners, dieticians, nurses, child and youth counselors, psychometry, psychologists, and social workers. There is a 9-bed eating disorders inpatient unit, a day treatment program and an outpatient service. An eating disorders partial hospitalization program will be added later this year. The duties for this position include assessment and ongoing psychiatric care for children, youth and their families, consisting of pharmacological treatments and supporting the psychotherapeutic work provided by allied health team members. As a member of their Department of Psychiatry faculty, the person in this job will teach medical learners, and engage in scholarly work, all of which are remunerated separately. A mentorship system is in place to enhance promotion.Remuneration and Benefits:This position will be well remunerated in alignment with other psychiatry positions at this location.The position provides 6 weeks paid vacation;2 weeks paid conference time and protected time for academic work, quality improvement, and education.Annual financial support for continuing professional development and research grant support are available.Required Skills:The successful candidate will have some education or experience in evidence-based psychopharmacologic and psychotherapeutic approaches for the treatment of eating disorders in children and adolescents.Training in Family Based Therapy and Emotion Focused Family Therapy for eating disorders is desirable, but not a requirement.If necessary, training in these modalities will be provided.The candidate should enjoy working in an environment where continuous quality improvement is a key feature of daily work.Bilingualism (English/French) is desirable, although not a requirement.Qualifications:Medical degree and specialized training in PsychiatryCertification or eligibility from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (eligibility must be approved jurisdiction route only) or American Board Certified. American Board Certified Psychiatrists are eligible for an independent licenseEligibility for licensure in Ontario and membership with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)Setting:Located in the beautiful capital of Canada, Our client is part of the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine hospital network.
