Job DescriptionWhat is the Role?You will join RBC Capital Markets to assist members of the Montreal Corporate Banking team in the origination, structuring, execution, administration, and portfolio management of credit facilities and M&A related financings to a portfolio of RBC Capital Markets’ clients. Corporate Banking plays a key role in the realization of RBC Capital Markets’ objectives through the structuring, syndication and management of bank debt for a targeted customer base. In addition, Corporate Banking reinforces existing non-lending business through initiating, coordinating and cross-selling a full suite of products and capabilities alongside our partners in Global Investment Banking. Through this effort, Corporate Banking is focused on achieving maximum product penetration across all RBC Capital Markets’ products, maximizing lead managed transactions and market rankings in key products, and maximizing RBC’s share of the client’s wallet.**** Please note: This role can be at an Analyst or an Associate level, depending on the incumbent's background and skillset.****What will you do?
  • Assist in the preparation of internal credit submissions (i.e. company, industry and financial analysis and modeling) and other documentation related to the transaction approval process
  • Work in a team environment with RBC Capital Markets partners including investment banking, loan syndications, commodities, foreign exchange, interest rate derivatives, debt and equity capital markets, loan agency, risk management, portfolio management etc.
  • Assist with internal credit administration, including monitoring the team’s loan portfolio performance and market/industry conditions
  • Create, maintain, and update pitch decks, internal presentation materials, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Assist with Corporate Banking coverage for identified clients
What do you need to succeed?Must have:
  • Highly motivated self-starter with keen attention to detail and strong interest in corporate finance and credit
  • Ability to perform well under pressure, meet time sensitive deadlines, adapt to changing circumstances, prioritizes work and multi-task responsibilities while working for multiple people
  • Advanced financial modeling abilities, as well as superior written and presentation skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg Portal would be an asset
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to critically assess financial statements and other client reports to draw reasonable conclusions and make recommendations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain relationships at all levels within and outside of the organization
  • Bilingualism (English and French) required, as you will regularly serve our clients and do business with RBC partners and/or employees across Canada with English and French speaking needs.
As an Analyst you will need:
  • Strong academic credentials including completion of Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics or Engineering mathematics or any other problem solving fields
  • Enrollment in the CFA program or other relevant professional designation would be an asset.
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience in corporate lending / corporate finance would be an asset but is not required
As an Associate you will also need:
  • 2-5 years work experience in a related field, including corporate lending, finance and/or risk management.
  • MBA or CPA, CFA professional designation (completed or near completion) would be an asset
