As a Security Officer, you have a strong security and safety mindset, thrive on being part of a team, and enjoy working in different physical locations. You are the face and voice of Irving Oil in the Saint John area and a primary contact for all visitors, customers, and employees who access our facilities. You must be available to be scheduled in a 24/7 environment and be willing to work at different Irving Oil locations in the Saint John area. This is considered a safety sensitive position, and as such, our recruiting process involves pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, references, and a criminal background check. This is a 4-month term position, which we are looking to fill immediately.What We Offer:Work Environment – Work and grow within Canada’s largest Refinery, with strong safety culture, access to a fitness facility, an onsite medical team, and a caféWellness Support – With 24/7 access to our Employee & Family Assistance ProgramYour Responsibilities:Welcome all visitors, employees, and customers to Irving Oil facilities by greeting them in person or on the telephoneMaintain a visible presence at all times, ensuring the highest standards of safety and security are metDispatch security team members, facilities personnel, and internal medical staff during any emergency incident or eventEnforce and govern the Facility Access Policy for all people entering our facilitiesBe a primary point of contact for all levels of the businessHandle requests, feedback, and queries professionally and in a timely mannerIssue temporary ID passes to visitors, contractors, and employees (if required) and ensure they are returned at the end of the day or completion of workContact all appropriate emergency services and diligently report any incidents directly to the Security Operations CenterPrevent and discourage all unapproved or unlawful entry to the site(s) and engage other security team members when necessaryYour Skills:Strong customer service skills with the ability to diffuse conflict and de-escalate situations in a professional mannerAble to deal with difficult or unforeseen issues quickly and professionally by answering questions or transferring to appropriate parties when necessaryAble to remain calm; quickly and efficiently respond to any emergency situations by working with the Security Operations Center (SOC)Be well versed in security protocols and proceduresActively contribute towards a safe and secure culture, while engaging employees and visitors to so they have a good experience when on-siteYour Experience:Minimum High School diploma or G.E.D. requiredMust possess a valid Canadian drivers licenseGraduate of a Criminal Justice or Police Foundations program is a definite assetCurrent First Aid certification is an asset Irving Oil is committed to supporting a diverse and inclusive work environment.
