This role is performed in alignment with both strategic business objectives and applicable regulatory requirements.Bayer is committed to a flexible hybrid working environment. This is a permanent position based out of the downtown Ottawa office.What you will do:
  • Own responsibilities on key active ingredients for Bayer CropScience Canada including strategic outcomes through identifying and analyzing critical issues/opportunities.
  • Obtain registrations for new products and maintain existing registrations, ensuring alignment with business strategies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze both existing and new government regulations related to pesticide matters, interpret their impacts on business objectives, and provide recommendations for future action.
  • Prepare comprehensive dossiers, including all necessary components such as chemistry, toxicology, metabolism, residue chemistry, environmental fate, environmental toxicology, value studies, summaries, risk assessments, and interpretations to achieve regulatory approvals that meet business needs.
  • Identify and assess significant issues and opportunities in the Canadian and global Crop Protection regulatory landscape and develop strategic recommendations in response to regulatory changes.
  • Bring creative ideas that address regulatory needs and business strategies such as sound scientific rationales in lieu of data generation.
  • Coach and mentor new staff.
  • Monitor and analyze existing and new governmental legislation, regulations, policies and directives related to pesticides and plant health matters, with the purpose of interpreting the effects on business plans and strategies, and to offer recommendations on a path forward.
  • Work collaboratively with internal functional managers and international registration managers to ensure timely availability of scientific data, studies, documentation, interpretations, and other necessary information.
  • Forecast operational and financial budgets for their asset portfolio.
  • Represent Bayer CropScience on committees within industry associations and other relevant forums as required.
  • Ensure all activities/events are conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, in accordance with Bayer Safety, compliance and Sustainability Policies.
Who you are:
  • Completed a science-based degree
  • Strong related experience in a similar role preparing regulatory agricultural product submissions
  • Possess extensive knowledge of crop production regulatory practices and business operations, including project management
  • Strong understanding of scientific and technical aspects of agricultural products for registration
  • Experienced with agricultural product development and the internal registration processes, producing successful outcomes
  • In-depth understanding of agricultural policies and regulations
  • Possess a broad understanding of scientific principles
  • Proven creativity in problem-solving, providing innovative solutions to drive business strategy
  • Demonstrated mentoring others and leading through influence
  • Independently able to drive outcomes and work as a team player
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills for interacting with both internal and external customers (i.e. federal and provincial regulatory agency personnel)
  • Strong comfort level in using digital tools
  • French language proficiency is not required but considered an asset

This compensation includes components such as base salary, vacation pay, public holiday pay, potential estimated overtime pay and paid statutory leaves of absence. Additional benefits may include insured benefits such as health care, vision, dental, disability, and contributory retirement savings plans, etc.This role also provides the opportunity to earn additional performance-based compensation. If performance-based compensation is earned, the total compensation package may provide an opportunity to earn a Total Direct Compensation (TDC) range of $138,400 and $188,400. This TDC would include base salary and may also include items like bonuses (short-term and long-term incentives) and sales incentives.
