You enjoy solving hard distributed systems problems, writing production-grade code, automating everything, and turning ambiguity into scalable architecture.You will design and build APIs, streaming systems, control planes, automation frameworks, and developer-facing platform capabilities that enable thousands of engineers and data practitioners across Autodesk.This is a high-impact engineering role with real architectural ownership.ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop scalable APIs and microservices (REST, GraphQL, event-driven)Build backend services using modern languages such as Go, Java, or PythonDevelop full-stack capabilities when needed (React, micro-frontends) to enable platform usabilityArchitect and implement distributed systems that process millions of records across batch and real-time pipelinesBuild and evolve streaming and ingestion systems using Kafka and FlinkDevelop control-plane services for orchestration, workflow management, and metadata-driven automationDesign self-service infrastructure abstractions for storage, compute, and workflow provisioningBuild highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systemsDefine SLAs/SLIs and drive observability across platform servicesmplement strong testing, CI/CD, and modern, cloud-native practicesDrive performance optimization and system efficiencyParticipate in on-call rotations and take operational ownership seriouslyIdentify manual processes and replace them with resilient automationBuild intelligent workflow orchestration and scheduling systemsImprove deployment pipelines and reduce operational overheadLeverage AI/LLMs and modern tooling to accelerate engineering productivityPartner with product managers, architects, data engineers, and ML teams to translate business needs into scalable systemsContribute to architectural direction and technical strategyMentor engineers and raise the engineering bar through code reviews and design discussionsPromote engineering best practices, documentation discipline, and long-term maintainabilityMinimum Qualifications5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production systemsStrong programming skills in Go, Java, or PythonProven experience designing and building distributed systems or microservices architecturesExperience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)Experience building and consuming APIs (REST, GraphQL, event-driven)Strong understanding of CI/CD, containerization, and cloud native infrastructureDemonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply them effectivelyOwnership mindset: you build it, you run it, you improve itPreferred QualificationsExperience with streaming technologies (Kafka, Flink)Experience with big data ecosystems (Spark, Trino/Presto, Hive, EMR)Experience building data platforms, storage systems, or orchestration engines (Airflow, Temporal)Familiarity with data modeling, schema design, and large-scale data processingExperience implementing observability and monitoring frameworksBackground in building developer platforms or internal toolingLearn MoreAbout AutodeskWelcome to Autodesk! For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $107,000 and $157,300. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range.
