- Sales and Service Strategy: Provides and/or prepares complex financial planning advice on a wide range of investment products and services to high value current and potential members, utilizing financial planning tools provided; identifies needs based on member life cycle and provides appropriate investment vehicles or refers to product specialist within other FW lines of business; seeks opportunities to assist members in consolidating their financial assets with First West; may conduct follow-up interviews with members on their portfolio on an annual basis to identify changes in circumstances that would require alternate investment option.
- Risk Management: Provides advice and acts in accordance with ethical standards, Aviso policies and applicable regulatory requirements ensuring that risk to the member and First West are minimized; maintains compliance with First West audit and risk management policies and procedures.
- Leadership: Builds relationship with branch team members and provides subject matter expertise and/or mentoring when required; schedules and facilitates product knowledge sessions with members and/or branch team members. Provides leadership and coaching to administrative team members to help drive a consistent member experience and enhance revenue.
- Member Transactions: Ensures member accounts are opened and transactions/purchases completed accurately and within required timeframes; maintains up to date member files with all required documentation.
- College, Trade or Tech School Diploma (2 years) in related discipline required
- IIROC Registered Representative licensing required
- Life Insurance Qualifying Program (LLQP) required within 1 year from date of hire
- Completion of Canadian Securities Course, CPH & Wealth Management Essentials required within 1 year from date of hire
- Financial planning designation: CFP, PFP, CFA or industry equivalent designation in good standing required within 2 years from date of hire
- 2-4 years in an investment/financial planning and advisory position managing a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals on an MFDA or IIROC environment
- Strong familiarity with financial planning tools/software required
- Proven superior knowledge of a wide range of investment products and services preferred
- Attention to detail and strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Proven networking and relationship building skills
- Superior sales abilities e.g. active listening, identifying business opportunities, influencing, and negotiating to close sale.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a wide variety of people
- Ability to analyze financial statements
- Proficient with computer software programs, e.g. Microsoft Office
- Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.
