- Provide legal advice to real estate development clients on a variety of issues, including zoning regulations, land use, environmental regulations, and property rights.
- Conduct thorough due diligence on properties to identify any legal issues or potential obstacles to the development process.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including purchase agreements, development agreements, construction contracts, and leases.
- Work closely with local government authorities to navigate zoning and land use regulations to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Assist in obtaining the necessary permits and approvals for real estate development projects, coordinating with government agencies and other stakeholders.
- Address environmental concerns related to real estate development, including compliance with environmental regulations and the assessment of potential environmental risks.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with real estate development projects, including title issues, easements, and other encumbrances.
- Collaborate with developers, architects, engineers, and other professionals involved in the real estate development process to facilitate a smooth and legally compliant project.
- Handle disputes that may arise during the development process, including litigation, mediation, or negotiation of settlements.
- Stay Informed: - Stay abreast of changes in real estate laws, regulations, and industry trends to provide up-to-date legal advice to clients.
- Client Communication: - Maintain regular communication with clients, keeping them informed of legal developments and ensuring that their interests are represented effectively.
- Legal Research: - Conduct legal research to support the development of legal strategies and provide well-informed advice.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to the Law Society of BC and in good standing.
- Specialization or experience in real estate law, with a focus on development.
- Strong understanding of local, provincial, and federal real estate laws and regulations.
