(employee will be working with or have access to children or vulnerable adults and requires a Criminal Record Check)YesJob DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.As a member of the Primary Health Care team and as directed by a medical or clinical professional, the Health Centre Assistant performs a variety of clinical and administrative duties related to the operation of the clinic, including organizing and prioritizing client care needs; participating in wellness promotion and Chronic Disease Management; maintaining health records and qualitative and quantitative analysis; client registrations; and arranging client procedure, treatment and specialist appointment bookings.QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And ExperienceGraduate of recognized Resident Care Attendant Certificate and Medical Office Administration Certificate programs. One year recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Current Level C Basic Life Saving Certificate.Skills And Abilities
  • Ability to type at 60 wpm.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and computer software tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
  • Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
