This position combines hands-on mechanical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring that highway maintenance equipment is serviced efficiently and safely.   • Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Experience leading, mentoring, coaching, and general management of a team of Heavy-Duty Technicians
  • Experience in a heavy equipment environment, diagnosing, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance inspections on heavy equipment
  • Experience using a variety of computer programs

Conditions of EmploymentThis is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following conditions of employment:
  • Yukon Class 3 driver's license with air endorsement, or
  • Yukon Class 1 driver's license with air endorsement endorsement (to be obtained within 1 year hire),
  • Pass TMB Competency assessment on heavy equipment (grader, loader, dump truck or tractor trailer).
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate (to be obtained within 6 months of hire)
  • Valid Canadian Journeyperson certification in one of the following: Heavy Equipment Technician, On-Highway Technician, or Off-road Technician.
Job RequirementsThis is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following job requirements:
  • Travel throughout the territory,
  • Work in adverse weather conditions,
  • Use personal protective equipment,
  • Personal tool kit.
  • Steel toed Work boots
