- Ensuring QC inspections, surveillances, and monitoring by safely planning and completing them in a timely manner to meet requirements and client expectations.
- Safely leading and carrying out Quality Control Inspections, non-destructive examinations, and surveillances within the scope of work defined by requirements, CNL business, CTA mission, and specifically the Quality Program.
- Maintaining inspection shops, equipment functionality, and safe working procedures and practices while monitoring their use in the field.
- Providing and verifying technically accurate professional inspection reports and quality records reviews, approvals/acceptances.
- Preparing, reviewing, approving, or accepting records of inspection/surveillance and non-conformance and ensuring inspector records consistency.
- Generating work activity reports for management.
- Leading and participating in audit activities on behalf of the Quality Control Inspection Team representing the Quality Organization.
- Creating, modifying, or upgrading Inspection procedures and related work control documentation using Microsoft suite of tools.
- Personnel Development and Performance Management– Quality Control Inspector Team.
- Participating in and maintaining up-to-date, all required CNL safety and operational training and supporting Quality Control Inspectors in maintaining required training.
- Working with Quality Management, taking the lead in providing input on strategic, tactically planned training, and professional development of self and Quality Control Inspectors and implementing the training plans and qualification activities necessary for self and inspection staff.
- Assuming personal responsibility and being accountable for maintaining skills. Participating in self-study, awareness, and ongoing training to maintain and elevate qualifications in inspection disciplines.
- Providing supervisory senior specialist input to performance through regular inspector coaching and development as well as formal performance review inputs through the CNL performance management program.
- Adhering to Workplace Safety and Health procedures, WHIMIS program; keeping current with practices; working in a prudent and safe manner and informing other employees if they are using unsafe work practices or equipment.
- Assisting management in the implementation of the CNL Quality Program through independent oversight.
- Leading and practising good housekeeping in the work area.
- Providing input to new and potential improvements to inspection methods, tools, equipment, and services.
- Assisting the organization in quality audit and surveillance activities, including performing inspections/surveillances at vendor’s premises when required.
- Completing other quality divisional support duties as assigned by management.
- Graduate from a recognized institute of advanced technology in a field relevant to the position, or equivalent formal education and normally has more than twelve (12) to fifteen (15) years of pertinent and progressive technological experience OR Secondary School Honour Graduation and normally has more than fifteen (15) to eighteen (18) years of pertinent and progressive experience. Or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training.
- Pertinent and progressive technological experience is determined by Quality management need in relation to the role of a Quality Control professional executing CNL Quality Program oversight

2. Minimum of (3*) Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN) registered CAN/CGSB-48.9712 Level 2 non-destructive examination (NDE) certifications (Radiography, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic, Leak Testing)
*Substitution of (1) CGSB certification with an American Society for Non-Destructive testing qualification is an acceptable alternative
3. Demonstrated professional experience in Quality Control as part of a Quality Assurance Organization with the responsibility for independent oversight.
4. Experience with audits, witnessing code activities, participating in surveillance, and developing and implementing inspection-specific procedures. * Working within a high performance group of Quality Control Inspectors of varying knowledge and experience, the incumbent should possess and be able to demonstrate the following capabilities:
- Demonstrate ability in a specialized Inspection field as well as a good general understanding of other fields.
- Demonstrate technical innovation and application of ‘state-of the art’ knowledge.
- Demonstrate ability to make a substantial contribution to the work of CNL.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, possesses a keen sense of responsibility, and is reliable and thorough in carrying out duties.
- Purchase, safely use and maintain QC owned or operated facilities, shops, tools and equipment
- Plan organize, coordinate regular or complex inspections based on customer inputs.
- Ensure the creation of high quality inspection records and reports
- Demonstrate excellent (quality program) judgement
- Must be proficient in reading and interpreting drawings/blueprints, engineering specifications, test and calibration reports and applying acceptance criteria to inspection methods, tools, equipment;
- Must be skilled in the use, care and proper maintenance of inspection tools and techniques.
- Exceptional organizational skills, able to prioritize and time management is required;
- Detail oriented with the ability to meet deadlines;
- Highly motivated, responsible and accountable to work with minimal supervision; and must be punctual, dependable and safety minded;
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment;
- The incumbent is required to maintain a Level 2 (secret) security clearance
- Wear and work in proper protective clothing
- Obtain and maintain a Level 2 (secret) security clearance
- Valid class G driver’s licence is required
- Solid working knowledge and application of inspection-related codes, standards and specifications (i.e. ASTM, ASME, Welding, etc.) in industrial or nuclear industry environments
- Obtain and maintain Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) status and complete CNL’s internal Group 3 Radiation Protection Training and complete Group 2 when required
- Hold current valid certifications in non-destructive examination methods (e.g., liquid penetrant inspection, weld inspection, etc.), refer to Experience section.
