Skills you bring with you:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 years' experience with maintenance and safe power saw operation.
  • High level of knowledge of the controlled recreation area of Sun Peaks Resort and its surrounding area.
  • Valid BC provincial driver's license.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50lbs.
  • Valid First aid certification.
  • Forest Safety training preferred.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and possess the willingness to learn and progress.
Primary Responsibilities:As the Power Saw Operator, you will be working closely and supporting a small crew in several different locations and terrain in the controlled recreation area of Sun Peaks Resort.
  • Brush cutting using power and pole saws.
  • Working on steep slopes and uneven ground.
  • Tree girdling.
  • Engage and participate in morning safety meetings and review equipment needs, vehicle assignments, special instructions, PPE requirements, mountain information updates, weather, concerns and successes, etc., setting daily completion goals.
  • Proper utilization of all safety equipment and PPE required in the performance of daily activities and aligned with Worksafe BC safety standards.
  • Ensure that equipment inventories are maintained and tools are available when needed.
  • Maintain and ensure all team equipment is in top working order (chainsaws, brush cutters, quads, SideXsides) and ensure that appropriate action is taken to repair tools as needed.
