- Lead and support risk assessments on Contaminated Site Assessments and Remediation projects, ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulatory frameworks.
- Manage and oversee risk assessment tasks from start to finish, including planning, scheduling, resourcing, reporting, and budget tracking, ensuring projects stay on track and within scope.
- Conduct human health and ecological risk assessments, analyzing exposure to soil, surface water, groundwater, and air for various chemicals.
- Prepare reports and critical analyses to assess risks and environmental impacts.
- Conduct in-depth literature reviews on environmental chemistry, public health, and other key areas to inform your work.
- Contribute to environmental assessments and planning, from baseline investigations to detailed site assessments.
- Develop and implement field programs for sample collection and chemical analysis.
- Mentor and provide technical support to junior team members, fostering growth and development within the team.
- Cultivate relationships with regulatory representatives to drive successful outcomes and guideline modifications.
- Collaborate with project managers to streamline workflows, ensuring a cohesive and effective project team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external clients and stakeholders.
- Lead the development and implementation of best practices, procedures, and quality assurance measures to maintain the highest standards.
- A Bachelors degree or higher in Environmental Science, Toxicology, Biological Sciences, Forestry or a related field.
- Professional designation with a relevant association (e.g., APEGA, ASPB, ACPA, AIA)
- 15+ years of relevant experience in environmental risk assessment.
- Expertise in human health and ecological risk assessments with strong field experience.
- In-depth knowledge of provincial standards (e.g., AEPA, AER) and federal guidelines (CCME) for risk assessments.
- Strong data evaluation skills, including statistical analysis, with an eye for quality and detail.
- Valid Ground disturbance, H2S, and First Aid Level C certifications.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to integrate multi-disciplinary information into clear, compelling reports.
- A strong team player who enjoys collaborating across disciplines and sharing knowledge.
- Strong ability in written and verbal communication.
