- Deep knowledge of key bakery ingredients like flour, sugar, oils, leavening agents, dairy powders, sweeteners, emulsifiers, and functional additives.
- Understanding of ingredient functionality, shelf-life, and how sourcing affects baking performance and finished product quality.
- Strategic Sourcing & Negotiation Skills
- Proven ability to develop sourcing strategies aligned with cost, quality, and supply continuity goals.
- Strong negotiation skills for contracts and pricing, especially for commodities and specialty ingredients affected by seasonality or global markets.
- Supplier Relationship & Risk Management
- Experience managing long-term supplier partnerships, especially for critical ingredients with limited sourcing options.
- Ability to assess and mitigate supply chain risks such as weather-related crop failures, ingredient shortages, or regulatory changes.
- Regulatory & Quality Compliance
- Familiarity with food safety standards (FDA, FSMA, GFSI, SQF) and labeling regulations relevant to bakery products (e.g., allergen declarations, organic, non-GMO).
- Works closely with Quality and R&D to ensure all sourced ingredients meet technical specs and documentation requirements (CoAs, specs, allergen controls).
- Cross-functional Leadership in Product Development
- Collaborates with R&D, Marketing, Quality, and Manufacturing to source ingredients that support innovation and reformulation efforts (e.g., clean label, reduced sugar).
- Supports cost optimization and product margin improvements through strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Sourcing or Procurement within a high paced, multi-plant manufacturing environment · Degree in Business, Supply Chain or Finance
- Intermediate to Advanced MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) · Experience leading high volume of RFP/RFQ
- Good knowledge of ERP/MRP processes
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization both internally and externally in both written and oral form
- Excellent time and project management skills
- Excellent written, verbal, analytical and numerical skills
- Ability to work independently and within cross functional teams
- Experienced and capable in multi-tasking, working on several subject and projects at the same time and is a selfstarter with the ability to work independently at times.
