For more information, visitPurpose:The People (HR) Superintendent will be dedicated as the main focal point to the Umicore PACMAN project, reporting directly to the Senior Manager, People for Canada East, and to the Project Director for the project. This position will be based in either Markham or Kingston, ON. Regular travel to the Umicore project site in Kingston will be required.Responsibilities:This position will act as a business partner, advisor and coach to the Project Leadership team and will work within the overall People structure to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of people services. Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
  • Lead the Mobility process for the project; including supporting the administration of project terms and conditions (ex managing living out allowance, drafting project mobilization and demobilization letters)
  • Manage life cycle of employment from project mobilizations and onboarding to exits; including interpretation and application of Ontario’s ESA.
  • HR Policy application and interpretation (i.e., Alcohol and Drug policy);
  • Support and lead diversity, equality & inclusion initiatives for the project;
  • Lead workplace investigations and provide recommendations involving performance management, corrective actions, terminations, and accommodations;
  • Ready, Response and Recover (R3) support;
  • Collaborate with Centres of Excellence to provide expertise on organization design, organizational and team effectiveness, workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, attrition and retention;
  • Lead the execution of annual HR Programs such annual pay and performance review, talent reviews, talent development, succession planning for the project;
  • Provide HR advisory support to leaders and ensure key HR practices are aligned with employment standards and provide integrated solutions to the organization that mitigates risk;
  • Develop, maintain, and recommend changes to meet the needs of the project.
  • Maintain and foster business relationships to enable collaboration with all levels of the organization ensuring a high level of customer service;
  • Act as a true business partner to the project Leadership and Stakeholders, providing relevant and timely coaching and advice, challenging, and influencing behaviors and acting as a business ally;
  • Work with project leaders to encourage and foster a high performing culture;
  • Implement and maintain Human Resources and Employee Relations policies and project specific processes as required;
  • Ensure client satisfaction through responsiveness, follow-up, and thorough communications.
QualificationsWhat you will bringTechnical and Industry Experience:
  • Project experience on large complex projects with both staff and craft professionals
  • Progressive HR Generalist experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in EPC/EPCM experience, mining, construction, or other heavy industry,
  • Previous experience with working in a Shared Services model is an asset
  • Recruiting experience, industrial recruiting, craft recruiting and Labour Relations experience is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with clients at all levels of the organization and influence decisions.
  • Ability to establish credibility quickly and be decisive utilizing well-developed critical thinking/analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Proven track record as a project lead with strong time management and project management skills.
  • Collaborative team player with demonstrated professional and emotional maturity and judgment to handle sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact.
  • Self-starter and able to work both in a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in change management and managing complex employee relations matters.
  • Results oriented with solid time management/organization skills.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:Required:
  • Progressive Human Resources generalist experience along with post-secondary education.
Preferred:
  • CPHR designation is an asset.
