  • Conduct research and policy analysis, coordinate and analyze development proposals;
  • Prepare and submit land use planning applications, including reporting and documentation for municipal approval;
  • Provide subject matter expertise related to land use planning;
  • Comprehend and decide the applicability of relevant local, provincial and federal government regulations on an individual project basis;
  • Liaise with clients, lawyers and consultants;
  • Keeping file management on a daily basis,
  • Conduct due diligence reviews on corporate transactions involving real estate with respect to a property’s land use policy context, compliance with regulations and policies, and analysis of development or intensification potential;
  • Manage projects and consultation with stakeholders and complete reporting for land use planning projects;
  • Assist other department team members, including support with Local Planning Appeal Tribunals and in particular, the Ontario Land Tribunal, as required; and
  • Assist with special projects and assignments, as required.
Requirements:- University education in Urban Planning;- 3-6+ years of municipal land use planning experience, including with development and approvals processes in Ontario in either the private or public sector, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;- Must hold a valid Ontario driver’s license and have access to a vehicle;- Obtained or working towards obtaining full membership with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute/Canadian Institute of Planners is an asset.- Skilled at managing priorities to hit multiple deadlines;- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal;- Capable of working independently, while being a collaborative member of a team;- Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism, and;- Strong organizational skills and time management skills.
