This role plays a key part in upholding financial integrity and supporting decision-making through reliable financial data.This is a temporary 18-month role, covering a maternity leave. This role is open to hybrid/remote working arrangements within British Columbia.What you’ll do:Accounting & Financial Reporting
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries, ledgers, sub-ledgers and reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
  • Monitor and maintain general ledger accounts, ensuring timely and accurate postings.
  • Prepare variance analyses and financial reports for management review.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Maintain documentation for financial transactions and ensure proper recordkeeping for audit readiness.
Administration& General Support
  • Provides support and guidance to branches and employees on accounting and administrative policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Performs and prepares special analysis and projects as assigned.
  • Acts as backup to other team members as required; instigates collaboration and information sharing.
  • Proactively identifies and recommends process improvements for better efficiency.
Regulatory Reporting Support
  • Prepare regulatory reporting workbooks and provide supporting documentation.
  • Create and update processes and record-keeping practices to align with evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Provide analysis of changes in reporting lines month-to-month.
  • Reconcile GL data and financial statements to FSR and CAR reporting.
  • Prepare and file Stats Canada reports accurately and on time.
  • Reconcile data across multiple regulatory reports.
  • Provide monthly data templates and reports to ProFinancial.
System Maintenance
  • Maintain GLs in GP, Chrome River, and DNA systems, including adding/inactivating accounts, MDA codes, and department codes.
  • Maintain and update the DNA to GP mapping document.
  • Maintain GP Management Reporter financial reports
Collaboration & Reconciliation
  • Collaborate with branches and other departments to support reconciliation and reporting needs.
  • Assist with general ledger system reports and reconciliation tasks.
  • Review and follow up on general ledger reconciliation control sheets and reconciliations.
  • Support reconciliation activities and ensure accuracy across systems.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor budget variances and provide analysis to support financial planning.
Compliance & Controls
  • Maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and company policies.
What you’ll bring:
  • Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field, an asset.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in a similar role; experience in a financial institution is preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization.
  • Experience with joint venture structures and reporting. (Subsidiary focus only)
  • Familiarity with wealth reporting frameworks. (Subsidiary focus only)
