As our Engineering Analyst, Trainee, 1-year contract you will perform Structural Qualification of nuclear components including steam generators, heat exchangers, process vessels and piping assemblies, and/or perform Thermal-hydraulic Analysis of heat exchanger equipment including steam generators and shell-and-tube heat exchangers. Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Analysis & Qualification, your position interacts with other Engineering Analysts and Project Engineering to provide input and support.Location:On-site, Cambridge, ONYour Day to Day as a Engineering Analyst, Trainee:
- Perform limited assignments of specific engineering tasks while learning the necessary processes, procedures and standards.
- Work under close supervison/mentorship of senior engineer or supervisor.
- Analysis and design qualification of nuclear components using finite element analysis or classical closed-form solutions which would include:
- Structural analysis
- Transient thermal analysis
- Heat-transfer analysis
- CFD analysis
- Response spectrum and time-history seismic analysis
- Flow-induced vibration analysis
- Provide input and support to Project Engineering. This includes:
- Provide input to set the design
- Preparation of calculations & reports to qualify the final design
- Evaluating non-conformances as required
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or associated fields with strong background in solid mechanics and/or fluid mechanics.
- Limited experience and knowledge (typically 0-2yrs) of:
- Finite element analysis.
- General purpose FE codes such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, ANSYS CFX, FLUENT, and numerical packages such as MathCAD or Matlab.
- HTRI XIST and RELAP analysis code (would be an asset).
- Nuclear plant functions and ASME Code (would be an asset).
- CSA S16 or equivalent structural codes (would be an asset).
- Programming languages such as FORTRAN, C, C++ or other languages such as python or VBA (would be an asset).
- Proven problem solving and organization skills and ability to develop effective working relationships.
