Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityUnder the direction of the Health Services Manager, the Respiratory Therapist works in the Pulmonary Function Lab to perform applies their knowledge, skills and judgment in the provision of diagnostic breathing tests on patients to determine lung function These tests allow the physician to monitor the severity of impairment, disease progression, course of treatment and assess occupational suitability for professions requiring excellent cardio-pulmonary health. In addition, the Respiratory Therapist performs cardio-pulmonary stress tests and bronchial provocation testing. Other major responsibilities include teaching of Dalhousie University Respiratory Therapy students and other health care professionals, calibration and quality control of all equipment, and active participation in various research projects.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Successful completion of a Respiratory Therapy program from an accredited institution
- Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care Exams
- Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists
- Registration with Canadian Association of Cardio-Pulmonary Technologists (CACPT) preferred
- Previous spirometry experience required
- Previous care coordinator experience an asset
- Certified repiratory/asthma/COPD educator an asset
- Smoking cessation experience an asset
- Prior experience in time management, conflict resolution and information management an asset
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
- Casual relief, no guaranteed hours
