- Proactively solicit group business through external sales calls, market visits, trade shows, and networking events.
- Drive room revenue growth through group rates, promotions, and repeat business.
- Identify and pursue new small-group opportunities within established and emerging leisure markets.
- Responsible for managing assigned sales segments, with the understanding that segment assignments may change in response to hotel business needs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned group accounts.
- Manage inquiries, proposals, contracts, and follow-up for groups.
- Respond to client requests in a timely and professional manner to maximize conversion.
- Resolve group-related concerns promptly to support long-term partnerships and repeat bookings.
- Negotiate small-group contracts in alignment with hotel pricing and revenue strategies in collaboration with the Senior Sales Manager and Revenue Management.
- Ensure contracted rates, inclusions, blackout dates, and room blocks are accurately implemented.
- Monitor group production, pickup, and pace to ensure performance aligns with expectations.
- Adjust group strategies based on demand patterns and market conditions.
- Prepare monthly production reports for group business.
- Ensure that all groups have complete pick up in the system.
- Ensure all eligible commissions for group bookings are accurately processed, submitted, and paid to clients on time in accordance with contractual agreements and brand standards.
- Ensure compliance with departmental policies, brand standards, and contractual obligations.
- Support departmental initiatives and special projects as assigned by the Senior Sales Manager.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Sales Manager, ideally in a luxury or ultra-luxury environment, including experience managing group business.
- Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management, Business, Sales, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of the Vancouver, BC market is considered an asset.
- Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy; effectively prioritize, organize, and follow up; think clearly, remain calm, and resolve problems using sound judgment.
- Ability to follow directions thoroughly; understand guest service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; and maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for presenting and discussing technical information, establishing rapport, influencing others, and gaining understanding; demonstrated knowledge of hospitality systems and software.
- Knowledge of hotel or resort operations management, including quality and operational standards; experience within the luxury or ultra-luxury market segment; and an understanding of hospitality industry trends, performance metrics, and terminology.
- Required to speak, read, and write English fluently.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of guest and hotel business information.
