
Senior Electrical Technologist, Buildings

- Design power distribution systems including single line diagrams, power layouts, and emergency power systems.
- Develop lighting layouts, fire alarm, communications, and security systems for building services.
- Prepare design documentation including calculations, specifications, contract documents, and as-built drawings.
- Conduct site investigations, inspections, and field work for the design and construction phases.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review construction progress for compliance with contract documents and participate in factory and site acceptance testing.
- Ensure designs adhere to applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Develop design reports, technical proposals, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical design for building systems.
- Post-secondary diploma in Electrical design technology.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems, including:
- Power distribution, lighting design, controls, fire alarm, emergency and exit lighting
- Communications cabling infrastructure, security and access control
- Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code
- Extensive proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for electrical design and drafting.
- Experience with capital region clients (e.g., BGIS) is a strong asset.
