Assistant ControllerPosition Overview:We are partnering with a rapidly growing, acquisition-driven organization to recruit two Assistant Controllers for newly created roles within their finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for emerging CPAs looking to transition out of public practice into a dynamic environment with broad exposure across multiple business units in a variety of industries.Reporting to senior finance leadership, the Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting financial reporting, audit readiness, and month-end oversight across a portfolio of entities.This position offers a unique blend of technical accounting, audit coordination, and operational exposure. This is ideal for individuals who want to accelerate their development beyond a traditional single-entity role.Responsibilities:The Assistant Controller will be responsible for:
  • Oversight of month-end close processes across a group of entities, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial results
  • Reviewing reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial statements to ensure they are audit-ready
  • Acting as the primary liaison for external auditors, including preparing documentation and anticipating audit requirements
  • Leading audit preparation efforts to improve efficiency, reduce friction, and streamline the overall process
  • Supporting financial reporting and ensuring consistency across multiple operating companies
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements, controls, and standardization across entities
  • Assisting with onboarding and integration of newly acquired businesses, including systems, reporting, and compliance setup
  • Providing technical accounting guidance and support to operational teams
  • Acting as a key “buffer” between corporate finance and operating entities to ensure financial accuracy and accountability
Requirements:
  • CPA designation (or near completion) required
  • Public practice experience with exposure to audit and/or review engagements
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Proven ability to manage or support audit processes end-to-end
  • High attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Ability to work across multiple entities and manage competing priorities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across both finance and operations
  • Experience in multi-entity environments or exposure to acquisitions/integrations is considered an asset
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary in the range of $85,000 – $100,000, depending on experience
