- Facilitating the definition of simulations, goals, tasks and resource requirements.
- Guiding, managing and supporting the delivery of projects and programs to ensure quality, and on-schedule.
- Defining and supporting strategic simulation and time tabling in accordance with the needs from prospect development through project planning, execution and closeout.
- Supervising the planning and monitoring of activities conducted by cross-functional teams, while maintaining overall control of risks and committed deliverables .
- Overseeing and monitoring programs within the portfolio to ensure business requirements are met and that business value is realized.
- Contributes to the identification, assessment, mitigation and communication of service design risks.
- Facilitates escalations on assigned simulations and models between stakeholders.
- Develops and delivers reports and presentations defining plans, problems and resolutions to appropriate levels of management.
- Collaborates with and provides expertise to stakeholderson programs and related projects.
- Consults regularly with stakeholders to determine their needs and develop plans for improved service delivery.
- Works interactively with stakeholders to manage and meet expectations and develops positive relationships to support the overall growth and success of strategic train service planning.
- Recognizes and validates existing and potential systems opportunities to provide advice and guidance as required.
- Serves as a problem manager, to proactively manage business issues, identify risks and minimize future impact.
- Maintains current knowledge of industry trends in the business and technology.
- Minimizes costs and seeks methods to increase service delivery effectiveness and improve end-user productivity and training.
- Completion of a university degree, preferably in an information technology, transportation planning, engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated years of experience in rail operations analysis, rail network planning and rail network simulation.
- Experience using OpenTrack or similar heavy rail service simulation software is an asset.
- Ability to understand and communicate complex business requirements to stakeholders.
- Able to apply experience and knowledge to various business issues.
- Ability to manage key stakeholder interests, while at the same time managing conflicting priorities and business interests with demonstrated leadership qualities, including conflict and issue resolution
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills plus the ability to think laterally while offering creative solutions
- Highly effective negotiation and relationship management skills to coordinate programs and projects across various business client groups.
