Position: Family Support Student - Summer Employment
Contract: 35 Hours per week. Position contract will end on August 23,2024Family Support Worker Student contributes to helping families become empowered to overcome difficulties, utilizing Indigenous culture to emphasize the strengths, inherent capacities and resiliency of individuals and families and strives to support parents and caregivers to meet the needs of their children.RESPONSIBILITIES • Assisting the Family Support Workers with transportation of children, youth and families obtaining consent from various collaterals youth activities and program • Family Time: greeting and supporting children, youth and families • Other administrative tasks related to family support • Performs other duties as assigned.POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Completion of at least one (1) year of Post-Secondary Education (Social Work or Human Services) and enrolled for September 2024.
Knowledge Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of MS Office: Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and values including awareness of the First Nation, Inuit and Métis Communities we service.
  • A solid understanding of and sensitivity to the experiences of First Nations and Indigenous peoples in Canada, and the impact of the legacy of Residential Schools and the Sixties Scoop.
Mandatory Requirements:
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings and holidays as required.
  • Provide an acceptable Canadian Police Information Centre Check (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS).
  • Able to provide a safe vehicle for use on the job, an acceptable Driver’s Abstract, evidence of a valid Ontario Driver’s License and of Personal Liability & Property Damage insurance coverage for at least $2,000,000.00.

With our team of dedicated staff, we work with children, youth, and families as early as possible to help them navigate various obstacles and access services available to them. We offer services such as Child & Youth Mental Health and Addictions, Youth Justice, Youth in Transition, Child Welfare, and Alternative Care.
