The ideal applicant is a skilled nursing educator, possessing significant cultural competence, and a demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations. Previous experience in teaching or supervision of students is desired. Experience with student-centered learning approaches would be an asset. Equivalent education and experience will be considered. Successful candidates will be professionals with a positive attitude towards education; have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with students; be able to work independently and work collaboratively with colleagues; and demonstrate the ability to be self-directed and motivated. You will be able to give guidance and direction to others, creatively find solutions to challenges, and be aware of goals and vision of nursing education. Working knowledge with computers, word processing programs and Outlook would be an asset.Candidates must be registered, have a current practice permit and be in good standing with the applicable health professional regulatory college in accordance with the Health Professions Act. The candidates who are notified for an interview will be required to provide their registration and practice permit at the time of the interview.Other necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:
  • Candidates must be able to apply different instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with different learning styles;
  • Knowledge of Northwestern Polytechnic courses and current educational technologies commonly found in classrooms (e.g., videoconferencing, D2L) are desired;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, specifically one who is willing to take a risk to create opportunities;
  • Highly qualified faculty, who seek to continuously improve instruction and meet the need of learners;
  • Willingness to work with and support the Teaching and Learner Centre;
  • Student Focused;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to build strong relationships across the organization; and
  • A high level of integrity, professionalism and accountability.
