- Review project procedures, technical drawings, and shipyard/classification standards to prepare inspection plans.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using instruments such as total stations, laser trackers, laser scanners, and dial gauges.
- Verify the position, alignment, and installation of structures and mechanical components during assembly.
- Analyze measurement results using software like SpatialAnalyzer or PolyWorks to detect errors.
- Identify non-conformities and assist in resolving them.
- Present inspection plans and results to clients and ensure outcomes meet project requirements.
- Perform calibration tests on tools and instruments to ensure accuracy.
- Contribute to the revision of procedures, inspection reports, quality audits, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with teams to improve dimensional accuracy and work efficiency.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in quality control within manufacturing; experience in surveying/metrology or shipyard work is an asset.
- Technical diploma or degree in Geomatics, Marine or Mechanical Engineering, Machining, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of surveying techniques and operating measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret specifications, technical drawings, and 3D models; familiarity with dimensional and geometrical tolerances.
- Proficiency with modeling software (AutoCAD, Rhino) and metrology software (SpatialAnalyzer, PolyWorks).
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and record-keeping.
- Knowledge of quality control systems and procedures.
- Fluent in English; French is a plus.
- Familiarity with classification society regulations (e.g., Lloyd's, ABS) is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong teamwork, communication skills, and ability to work with clients.
