Job Category: Faculty & Faculty ServicesJob Description:The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary Medicine in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for an academic physician in Sleep Medicine to be based at the University of Alberta Hospital. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world's top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada's premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff.The Division of Pulmonary Medicine provides a wide range of quaternary and tertiary clinical services in Pulmonary Medicine and Allergy, and is home to the second largest lung transplant program in Canada averaging 60-80 transplants annually. The Division has a long-standing history of excellence and international reputation in clinical and research activities on airways disease.
Divisional members are active in the international research community in most fields of Pulmonary Medicine (https://www.ualberta.ca/en/department-of-medicine/divisions/pulmonary-medicine/index.html)Responsibilities:Key accountabilities of the successful candidate will include, but will not be limited to a significant ambulatory presence within the Divisional clinics (sleep medicine) and within general pulmonary clinics. The successful candidate is expected to be part of the inpatient and consult service at the UAH. The successful candidate may have a significant leadership role in establishing the new sleep lab and, ideally, a fellowship in sleep medicine at the University of Alberta.Qualifications:The successful candidate will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Respiratory Medicine and/or Sleep Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and demonstrate a proven academic track record in Sleep Medicine and/or COPD.Individuals with a strong interest and track record in research are encouraged to apply.Interested candidates are asked to submit online a letter of intent and curriculum vitae outlining their education, qualifications, experience, research interests, along with three letters of reference.FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE CONTACT
