- Fisheries-related fieldwork (e.g., fish inventories, fish habitat assessments, water quality monitoring, fish rescues/relocations, and environmental monitoring).
- Assist with other fieldwork (e.g., wetland assessments, wildlife sweeps, vegetation identification, and soil classifications).
- Collect, analyse, and interpret data in a clear and concise manner, and effectively communicate findings with peers, clients, and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate and liaise with clients, on-site representatives, subcontractors, and colleagues.
- Minimum requirement of a technical diploma or bachelor's in biology or related discipline with at least 2 years of relevant fisheries experience.
- Knowledge of fish ID and experience determining fish habitat in Alberta.
- Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting a variety of field activities.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
- Electrofishing, ATV, First Aid, H2S, Wildlife/Bear Awareness, Ground Disturbance Level 2, and other relevant safety certificates are assets.
Alberta Society of Professional Biologists
