Integrated Geomatics Inc. has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Field Technician or Biologist to join our growing environmental team. We are based in Calgary; however, remote and hybrid work options are available. IGI supports client development activities by pairing survey and environmental services such as planning, permitting, environmental assessment, GIS mapping and design, and environmental monitoring.In this position, the successful applicant will complete a wide variety of fisheries and wetland related field assessments, wildlife sweeps, data analysis, construction monitoring, and assist with regulatory applications and technical reports. It is primarily a field-based role with both field and office tasks (e.g., data entry and daily and weekly reporting).Key Responsibilities
  • Fisheries-related fieldwork (e.g., fish inventories, fish habitat assessments, water quality monitoring, fish rescues/relocations, and environmental monitoring).
  • Assist with other fieldwork (e.g., wetland assessments, wildlife sweeps, vegetation identification, and soil classifications).
Assist with reporting and regulatory applications.
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret data in a clear and concise manner, and effectively communicate findings with peers, clients, and regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate and liaise with clients, on-site representatives, subcontractors, and colleagues.
Qualifications
  • Minimum requirement of a technical diploma or bachelor's in biology or related discipline with at least 2 years of relevant fisheries experience.
  • Knowledge of fish ID and experience determining fish habitat in Alberta.
  • Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting a variety of field activities.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Travelling and working in remote locations for extended periods of time.Class 5 Drivers License and clear drivers abstract.
  • Electrofishing, ATV, First Aid, H2S, Wildlife/Bear Awareness, Ground Disturbance Level 2, and other relevant safety certificates are assets.
