- Manage, schedule, and/or perform the required preventative maintenance for all central research equipment/assets: shared research lab equipment, Clinical Research assets, Research fridges/freezers, and oversee other central operational processes.
- Procure new equipment/assets, as required.
- Support key research equipment across the portfolio by providing necessary oversight of research equipment procurement, installation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance including inspections.
- Develop training programs to allow staff to perform routine maintenance on equipment, as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain a research asset management database to track ongoing asset inventory.
- Manage the disposal/decommissioning of existing research assets.
- Maintain service records of all shared research equipment and oversee all the central shared Research freezers.
- Oversee the Environmental Monitoring System for all research departments.
- Provide equipment planning support for the new research building.
- Supervise co-op students assigned to space and equipment planning initiatives on various projects and undertake contingent assignments, as needed.
- Undergraduate degree in engineering or science with 2+ years of experience in research and operational management.
- Must have working knowledge/training of electronics with the ability to understand the operation and have manual skills required to repair, calibrate, perform safety, performance routine inspections on electronic, electrical, mechanical and optical equipment, devices, systems and instruments.
- Broad-based knowledge of operational issues relating to the support and facilitation of science.
- Knowledge of the regulatory requirements for Medical and Laboratory devices is mandatory, including Health Canada, FDA, CSA, TSSA etc.
- Demonstrated track record working on complex projects within a team environment.
- Familiarity with the use of indicators to track progress, and managing databases.
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills are required.
- Knowledge and experience with addictions and mental health research is an asset.
- Ability to work effectively in a wide range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
- Salary is competitive and based on experience, with a hiring range of $83,797.50 - $104,746.88 per year.
- Employees in this role may progress within the full pay range of $83,797.50 - $125,696.26 per year
