Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/Position OverviewThis position leads the CA CTC and directly reports to the Senior Director of Tax Operations North America and collaborates closely with a variety of groups including the North America Tax Leadership team, Sector Tax Planning teams, Tax Counsel Group and the Global Transfer Pricing team. This position would lead special projects such as acquisitions, divestitures and tax restructurings. The CTC lead would possess strong tax technical knowledge and be able to apply this knowledge to a wide scope of issues that arise in the business. CA CTC lead must be a self-directed individual able to problem solve, exercise a high level of independent judgment, implement activities in a highly sophisticated environment and must possess strong communication, business partnering and people leadership skills. This is the lead tax role in Canada where the candidate must actively partner with various external industry groups and government tax authorities, as well as internal team members in local Canadian leadership in finance, supply chain, regulatory affairs and R&D. This position is responsible for developing a team with a STA, TA and a co-op student.Responsibilities:Represent the J&J Global Tax organization locally in Canada, advocating global tax processes and strategies that are applicable to Canada. Represent the Canadian CTC within the J&J Global Tax to provide relevant updates and share guidelines.Develop tax expertise in Canadian SR&ED and work with external advisors and the R&D department to continuously improve the annual tax filings, handle the financial risk of the claim and be responsible for the management of the scientific and technical aspects of SR&ED audits.Lead the Canadian aspect of transfer pricing processes, documentation and audit management with the CRA, J&J Global Transfer Pricing, Global Audit and Sector Planning teams.Work with Canadian business partners to assess tax implications of business decisions to drive value and minimize financial risk. In addition, work closely with local legal counsel on local Canadian legal initiatives to assess tax implications.Work closely with Tax Counsel, Corporate Treasury and Sector Planning groups on acquisitions, divestitures, tax restructuring, dividend planning and licensing transactions.Partner with external industry tax groups to align on administrative practices and potential lobbying opportunities with the appropriate authorities.Act as the lead Canadian tax technical guide in reviewing all submissions to tax authorities.Staff management – performance management, day to day management of workload and communication within the tax team.Support projects initiated by the Global Finance and Tax Organizations such as CFIN and EPM.QualificationsCanadian income tax and transfer pricing experience required.People management experience required.Strong communication and business partnering skills required.Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.OneSource experience required.ERP experience required.Knowledge of J&J tax and accounting policies, procedures and requirements preferred.A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.A minimum of 10 years of tax experience is required.A minimum of 5 years of experience in people managementEstablish relationships across the various teams through collaboration, teaming, consensus building, and interpersonal efficiency is required.Committed to developing talent is requiredStrong communication skills are required.Other:This role may require up to 5% travel within North America.This position will be located in Markham Ontario, CanadaJohnson & Johnson is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
