ROLEAs a physiotherapist, you will utilize your knowledge skills and judgment with an inter-disciplinary focus to facilitate admission, treatment and discharge of patients. You will be able to:Demonstrates knowledge of the guiding principles of client-centered care and supports this approach in practice (e.g., includes the person with stroke / caregiver in goal setting, treatment planning and decision-making.)Demonstrates an understanding of neuroplasticity as a core concept of stroke recovery and the key underlying principles relevant to physical therapy assessment and interventions.Responsible for patient assessment and the development and execution of treatment plans.Develop and delivers formal patient education within the Integrated Stroke Unit.Document all aspects of patient care according to standards set out by the institution and the College.Knowledge and understanding of the Ontario Stroke System and ability to assist with implementation of stroke best practice guidelinesActively participates in patient care meetings and maintains relevant statistics.Participate in program development, evaluation and with education activities as determined by the service.REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of OntarioEligible for C.P.A., OPA membership.Completion of the Physiotherapy core competencies for Stroke from CorHealthCPRAlpha FIMFIMREQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)3-5 years’ experience within a healthcare setting focused on the adult, senior and rehabilitation populationsExperience with stoke care would be an assetComputer skills including electronic medical record and Microsoft officeEffective critical thinking, problem solving, organization and leadership skillsDESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATIONADP authorizer or willing to obtain within 1 yearExperience with NRS (National Reporting System) an assetPrevious leadership experience as assetNeurology/Neurosciences CertificatesADDITIONAL PERKS AT MAHC
