Position Summary:
The Hydraulic Designer designs hydraulic cylinders to meet customer requirements for performance,
quality and delivery while ensuring Monarch engineering standards for safety, quality and
manufacturability. The Designer collaborates with others to solve customer concerns and internal issues
as they arise.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Design hydraulic cylinders using applied engineering principles, design data ensuring quality and
manufacturability requirements.
  • Provide engineering support to Production, Purchasing, Production Planning with information
and documentation required to produce current products.
  • Verify and validate products and designs by developing test plans, implementing and tracking
results. Through analysis, determine and optimize design as appropriate.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to designs, and take appropriate actions to implement.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as Sales, Product Management and Production to
meet Monarch's goals for quality, customer service, safety and cost.
  • Research new solutions, components and methods, recommending and implementing where
appropriate.
  • Interact with customers to develop solutions and provide technical support where needed.
  • Conduct all activities and execute all duties with enthusiasm and a positive, results- focused
attitude.
  • Support company initiatives and policies enthusiastically.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education Required:
  • An ideal candidate will possess a diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET)/
Mechanical design or equivalent, combined with applicable experience.
  • Training or education in hydraulic systems and fluid power systems is an asset.
  • Welding engineering certification from CWB is an asset.
Experience Required:
  • At least 1 year and ideally 3 years of experience in designing mechanical components and
equipment for mobile equipment, such as agricultural, mining and or construction equipment is
required.
  • Experience in designing for manufacturability.
  • Experience in designing hydraulic cylinders and related components for efficient manufacturing
is preferred.

  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient with solid modeling applications, ideally Solidworks operating in PDM environment.
  • Knowledge of GD & T
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other common applications.
  • Exposure to activity scheduling, project management and ERP usage is an asset.
