Position: Supervisor, Facilities Management
Site: Toronto Rehab - University Centre
Department: Facilities
Reports to: Manager, Facilities
Salary Range: $76,830- $99,879 (Commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN Compensation Policy)
Status: Permanent Full-TimeIn compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations as well as current construction safety/Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines as outlined in various documentation such as the Canadian Standards Association, the principal responsibilities of the Supervisor, Facility Management include: providing direct supervision to the Facilities Management staff, provide an operational reference point for Project Team Staff (internal or external); performing quality management responsibilities; performing financial management responsibilities; performing planning responsibilities including providing a direction to create an equipment/building renewal priority list; performing personnel development functions to maintain a productive work environment; performing corporate management functions; accountability to maintain a compliance program for operational equipment and staff safety training, performing other duties consistent with the job classification assigned or requested by the Hospital management representatives.Key Responsibilities:
  • Directs and controls the activities and quality of services provided.
  • Coordinates workloads, assigns work duties and tasks, checks, inspects and monitors activities of assigned employee. Completes employee evaluations for assigned employees on a schedule determined by the Hospital utilizing a diversified workforce.
  • Backfills Manager, Facility Operations when required.
  • Reviews work in progress, checks and inspects as necessary for conformance to job specifications and with Federal, Provincial, and Municipal requirements, regulations and standards; instructs personnel when performance does not comply with standards.
  • Provides direct supervision to front line staff.
  • Performs quality management responsibilities.
  • Performs financial management responsibilities.
  • Performs planning responsibilities including formulating a strategic infrastructure renewal recommendation.
  • Performs personnel development functions to maintain a productive work environment.
  • Performs corporate management functions.
  • Works in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contravention's of the Act, in a timely manner.
Qualifications
  • At minimum, completion of a 2 year community college program leading to a trade certification in Electrical, Millwright, Carpentry or Plumbing or recognized.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of maintaining multiple communication channels.
  • Ability to implement sustainable/beneficial change.
  • Ability to coordinate many activities concurrently.
  • Ability to handle emergency and/or crisis situations effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to use all tools/equipment common to the trades.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of department staff positions for training and demonstration purposes.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a working knowledge of Hospital accreditation requirements, industry standards, Hospital policies and procedures, financial control principles, Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Infection Prevention and Control Standards and environmental waste management regulations.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office with the ability to generate spreadsheets and reports as well as creating simple drawings with Microsoft Visio or equivalent. Ability to read blueprints and Technical drawings and manuals. Use of AutoCAD would be beneficial.
  • Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
