The Senior Structural Engineer will play a key role in the design, technical review, and project execution of structural engineering assignments. This position involves preparing detailed engineering designs, drawings, and specifications while providing oversight during construction through review and contract administration activities.The role requires strong technical expertise across multiple structural systems and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external stakeholders including municipal agencies and infrastructure authorities.Compensation
- $100,000 - $125,000 salary range, commensurate with experience
- Lead the structural design and analysis of projects including buildings, infrastructure, and specialty structures
- Prepare and review detailed design drawings, technical specifications, and engineering reports
- Perform structural analysis for steel, reinforced concrete, and wood structural systems
- Provide construction review, site inspections, and contract administration services during project execution
- Coordinate with internal mechanical, electrical, and transportation engineering teams to ensure integrated project delivery
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities including municipalities, school boards, and government agencies
- Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support proposal development, project planning, and scheduling where required
Projects may include:
- Institutional buildings (schools, universities, healthcare facilities)
- Commercial and office developments
- Municipal and infrastructure projects
- Building expansions and retrofits
- Structural reinforcement projects
- Bridges and retaining walls
- Specialty structures and site infrastructure
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario or eligibility to obtain
- Minimum 8-12 years of progressive structural engineering experience in a consulting environment
- Strong experience with structural steel, reinforced concrete, and timber design
- Experience delivering institutional, municipal, or infrastructure-related projects
- Familiarity with Canadian building codes and structural design standards
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams
- Experience working with public sector clients such as municipalities, school boards, or government agencies
- Experience with retrofit and rehabilitation projects
- Work with a respected multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm with a long-standing reputation in the Canadian market
