- Responds to tenant and landlord inquiries, takes messages; makes referrals to other departments or services.
- Initiates community support for tenants.
- Investigates allegations of fraud and/or other misrepresentations by tenants in regard to rent arrears notification and collection in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Verifies evidence and collateral information regarding lease agreements.
- Reviews and approves tenant transfers and new rental agreements in accordance with established policies and legislative requirements.
- Prepares accurate records of all interactions with clients in accordance with standard documentation protocol.
- Assists in rent arrears notifications and collections through correspondence or site visits, and in accordance with established procedures.
- Prepares or compiles related correspondence, reports and statistics, in accordance with established procedures.
- Identifies arrears, approves and issues Notices of Termination. Attends Tribunal Hearings when tenants fail to make payments on Notices.
- Ensures tenant compliance in accordance with lease agreements.
- Assists in the resolution of landlord-tenant disputes and conducts tenant meetings. This includes the investigation of complaints from tenants and the public and takes corrective action. Brings issues of concern to the attention of the Management.
- Represents and prepares documentation/evidence for the landlord at the Landlord Tenant Board.
- Completes inspection of rental units throughout the county and advise tenants of actions required for compliance.
- Assists in maintaining a safe work environment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Community College Diploma (2 year) in Social Services or related Social Sciences
- Minimum 6-12 months related professional experience
- Valid Driver’s Licence (Class G)
- Ability to operate standard and specialized software systems including YARDI.
- Knowledge of related provincial legislation, policies and procedures including the Housing Services Act, Residential Tenancies Act, and the Landlord Tenant Board.
- In accordance with Residential Tenancies Act ensures safety of others through applicable statutes and legislation.
