Instructor – Practical Nurse - Temp

• Instructs courses as assigned (lab and/or clinical, primarily).
• Selects instructional strategies to meet learner needs.
• Creates lesson plans.
• Supports development and updating of curriculum, guides and rubrics as requested.
• Evaluates learner performance on an ongoing basis and provides learners and administrators with learner progress reports.
• Maintains official records as required.
• Facilitates learning within variety of settings.

• Supports learners navigating various challenges (for example: attendance; conduct, performance).
• Identifies areas of concern and refer to the Program Chair or Associate Dean if follow up is necessary.
• Refers learners to other institutional supports as required (for example: tutoring, counseling).
• Ensures that approved student accommodations are met when applicable (for example: reduced course load, vision impairments, hearing impairments, testing) as per individualized accommodation (IAP).
• Assists with process in scholarship and bursary awards.
• Participates in college and departmental events that promote learner success (for example: orientation, graduation).
• Creates an environment that includes the regional Educational Assistant’s as part of the learning team; during class time and pre/post class time.

• Keeps current regarding changes in best practice and adapts facilitation as required.
• Assists with articulation and transfer activity for learners as required.
• Meets with industry stakeholders and sit on Advisory Committees as required.
• Attends external community meetings.
• Participates in recruitment events as schedule permits.
• Maintains a networking relationship with employers of Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides.

• Follows College Policies and Procedures.
• Completes any professional development requirements (for example: D2L; Unit4 Student Module training, Instructional Skills Training, FOIP, Code of Conduct / Conflict of Interest training & declaration, Respectful Workplace training).
• Ability and willingness to participate in applied research.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Diploma in Nursing
• LPN or RN
• Meets government Practical Nurse facilitator requirements
• 4 years of current nursing experience in acute care
• CLPNA or CARNA Practice Permit without restriction
• CPR Health Care Provider Level
• Up to date immunization records
• Police Information Check including a vulnerable sector
• Ability to work to full scope of practice
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
