Project TechnologistHazardous MaterialsCalgary, ABToday is the day to boost your career! Pinchin is seeking a Project Technologist to join our Hazardous Materials team in our Calgary, AB office.Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Project Technologist will perform comprehensive building materials assessments for hazardous materials and conduct workplace site reviews, air monitoring and sample analysis during hazardous materials abatement work. You will prepare technical reports, assist in the development of health and safety documentation, and liaise with clients to ensure their needs and goals are met.A Day in the life of a Project Technologist at Pinchin:
  • Conduct comprehensive building assessments for hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead, PCBs, etc., included the collection of samples
  • Perform oversight reviews and air monitoring during hazardous material abatement projects
  • Collect and analyze asbestos air samples via Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) and interpret sample results in relation to legislative requirements
  • Prepare assessment reports detailing methodologies, findings, conclusions and recommendations concerning the management, control and removal of hazardous materials
  • Manage project schedules effectively and efficiently
  • Liaise with clients and sub-contractors to ensure health, safety and hygiene needs are addressed and met
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships
What you bring to the Pinchin team:
  • College diploma in Environmental, Construction or Architectural Technology, or Bachelor of Science or Applied Science in Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with active building demolition and/or occupational health and safety on construction sites is preferred
  • Ability to use digital tablets and new applications which are constantly evolving
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to carry/climb ladders/tools (at least 50lbs) during surveys and ability to wear respirators for extended periods of time
  • Strong organization skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to read technical specifications, drawings and reports
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance and a personal vehicle required
  • Availability to travel to clients’ sites (short-term work-related travel)
  • Availability to work outside of core business hours
  • Availability to work occasional weekends
