
Project Technologist, HAZ

- Conduct comprehensive building assessments for hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead, PCBs, etc., included the collection of samples
- Perform oversight reviews and air monitoring during hazardous material abatement projects
- Collect and analyze asbestos air samples via Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) and interpret sample results in relation to legislative requirements
- Prepare assessment reports detailing methodologies, findings, conclusions and recommendations concerning the management, control and removal of hazardous materials
- Manage project schedules effectively and efficiently
- Liaise with clients and sub-contractors to ensure health, safety and hygiene needs are addressed and met
- Develop and maintain positive client relationships
- College diploma in Environmental, Construction or Architectural Technology, or Bachelor of Science or Applied Science in Engineering or equivalent
- Experience with active building demolition and/or occupational health and safety on construction sites is preferred
- Ability to use digital tablets and new applications which are constantly evolving
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to carry/climb ladders/tools (at least 50lbs) during surveys and ability to wear respirators for extended periods of time
- Strong organization skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to read technical specifications, drawings and reports
- Valid driver’s license, insurance and a personal vehicle required
- Availability to travel to clients’ sites (short-term work-related travel)
- Availability to work outside of core business hours
- Availability to work occasional weekends
