This national team has earned an exceptional reputation through its successful delivery of multidisciplinary infrastructure projects in Canada.Your Key ResponsibilitiesAct as project manager, structural lead, and designer for engineering assignmentsResponsible for transportation structural inspection assignments and be supervising engineer on biennial (OSIM) inspection assignmentsAttend site visits related to pre-design information gathering, construction and post-construction reviewLead and conduct the inspection of existing bridges, culverts, and other transportation structures in accordance with the Ontario Structure Inspection Manual (OSIM), Ontario Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and other applicable standardsCoordinate work with clients and other disciplines including highway/road, electrical, drainage and environmental planningAnalyze, evaluate appropriate design solutions and design of transportation structures including bridges, culverts, retaining walls and foundationsProvide direction to project team members and support staff through verbal and written instructionsDirect CAD team for drawing preparation and review deliverables prior to submission to clientPrepare and review technical reports, tender documents, and cost estimatesProvide recommendations and costing on bridge, culvert and retaining walls, required maintenance, repair and rehabilitationProvide tender evaluations and/or construction engineering servicesConduct business development activities to secure new projects by client liaison and proposal preparationAttend and participate in team progress meetingsAvailable to work flexible hours, days, nights, and weekends. Staff will be required to be away from home for periods of timeComplete daily health and safety documentationConduct regular reviews of transportation structure projects to ensure budget, schedule, risk, and cost to complete estimates are appropriateWork within assigned projects and schedulesSuccessful experience of analyzing, evaluating, rehabilitating, and designing bridges and culvertsInterest in working both in the office and the field environmentAbility to perform outdoor physical duties while doing bridge inspection workValid Ontario Driver’s license and access to a vehicleStrong computer skills, including experience with bridge inspection and asset management software, SAP2000, CSiBridge and SFRAMEExcellent written and verbal communicationStrong interpersonal, communication and presentation skillsAble to work in a team environment and excel in both bridge and multi-disciplined projectsDemonstrated interest in business development activates and preparation of proposalsProven ability to supervise, direct and mentor staffOrganized and detail orientedAbility to direct a team and mentor technical development of othersWorks well with minimal directionEducation and ExperienceBASc or B.Eng. In civil/structural engineering with strong interest and experience in bridge engineeringP. Eng. status and 10+ years leading biennial inspection assignments and leading large transportation structures projectsRAQS eligible within bridge engineering for biennial inspectionsAttended the MTO 2024 Inspectors workshopExperience in the role of supervising engineer on OSIM inspection assignmentsExperience in fatigue inspectionsExperience in proposal and report writingExperience in asset managementExperience in project managementTypical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
