  • Playing a key role in supporting managers and employees across a wide range of HR programs, processes, and initiatives.
  • Providing first‑line support to People Leaders, helping them navigate HR policies, programs, collective agreements, and employment legislation.
  • Supporting HR programs, processes, and day‑to‑day HR operations within your assigned mission or department.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for managers and employees, providing guidance, coaching, and timely support.
  • Assisting with interpreting HR policies, procedures, collective agreements, and employment legislation.
  • Responding to and resolving employee questions, escalating to the HR Business Partner where needed.
  • Supporting positive labour relations by ensuring consistent and fair administration of collective agreements.
  • Participating in grievance handling, investigations, and labour relations discussions.
  • Preparing HR reports, reviewing dashboards, and maintaining data accuracy across HR systems.
  • Supporting employee movement and life‑cycle transactions, working closely with ServiceCNL.
  • Assisting with performance management, disability management, and total rewards processes.
  • Participating in recruitment activities, intake meetings, and interviews as needed.
  • Contributing to talent management cycles and workforce planning discussions.
  • Liaising with internal subject‑matter experts and external partners to support HR programs.
  • Identifying learning needs and connecting employees with relevant training opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
  • Education
  • Post‑secondary education with a major in Human Resources or a related field.
  • The CHRP designation is considered an asset.
  • Experience
  • 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, ideally within a highly regulated environment.
  • Experience working in unionized environments, with the ability to interpret collective agreements.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of CNL HR policies, procedures, legislation, and collective agreements.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with HRIS systems; Oracle and Taleo are considered assets.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills; adaptable, approachable, and process‑driven.
  • Understanding of job evaluation systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant employment and workplace legislation (Canada Labour Code).
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
  • We have a compressed work week: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week, starting at 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
