Through fun, immersive activities, we help campers build a strong foundation in French while creating unforgettable memories.The Moniteur / Monitrice loves working with children, providing them with a safe, inclusive, exciting and memorable camp experience.Why join Camp Tournesol Espoir?Monday to Friday work schedule – weekends off!Daytime work hoursCanada Day and Civic Holiday OffFun work environment and culture while working with childrenCareer pathing – get experience working with children in an educational environmentFuture OpportunitiesResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of a Moniteur / Monitrice include but are not limited to:Report to the Animateur Senior and participate in weekly mentorship sessions to support skill development and career growthLeading activities for campers including inquiry and discussion in FrenchCreating a fun, enjoyable, inclusive and safe atmosphere for campersModelling appropriate behaviour and positive interactions, work with senior staff at the camp to provide corrective actions to camper behaviour issues, conflictsEngaging with each camper as they work through activitiesEnsuring that all campers under your care are treated equally, consistently, and fairlyProviding consistent and specific direction in the supervision of campersDemonstrating a positive attitude, thoughtfulness, and good decision-makingBeing self-confident and able to accept and adopt constructive feedbackFollowing all daily campsite cleaning proceduresAdhering to all Camp Tournesol health and safety and emergency protocols, including WHMIS and hazard checks, and Camp Tournesol policyEnsuring general cleanliness and rules of the facility is adhered to per the facility guidelinesCarrying out reasonable duty requests from the Chef d’Équipe, Animateur Senior or members of the Management TeamAttending the mandatory training periodNote: Candidates applying for any position with Camp Tournesol Espoir Inc. must have a valid certificate in Standard First Aid with CPR-C from a reputable provider of first aid training as recognized by WSIB / WCB / WorkSafe BC, as well as a Police Check in the Vulnerable Sector that was issued no earlier than August 28, 2025.Successful Candidates Should Possess:Must be fully proficient in English and FrenchWorking towards a high school diploma or enrolled at a post-secondary institution1 year experience working with childrenKnowledge and understanding of French education curriculum and related topicsInspirational and creative thinking skillsCustomer service-oriented mindsetTeamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to take initiativeStrong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to adapt to changeThe ability to anticipate problems and opportunities, and develop effective solutionsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsMust be able to commute to workplace location * This position may be funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program.
