Job DescriptionOur client, a well respected and forward-thinking organization, is looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to strengthen their team in a permanent role based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.Reporting to the Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information across multiple entities and is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys contributing to reporting, compliance, and process improvements.Key Responsibilities for the Job:
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjustments; reconcile bank and general ledger accounts
  • Maintain and reconcile intercompany accounts and capital asset schedules
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements, management reports, and variance analysis
  • Provide support in budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory filings as required
  • Prepare reconciliations and documentation to support annual audit requirements
  • Ensure compliance with ASPE, CRA regulations, and internal controls
  • Recommend improvements to accounting processes and contribute to SOP development
Experience & Attributes for Success:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA designation (completed or in progress) considered an asset
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; solid skills in Word and Outlook
  • Experience with ERP/accounting software (Acumatica or similar an asset)
  • Background in multi-entity or construction/contracting environments considered an asset
  • Highly organized with excellent time management and analytical skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Effective communicator and collaborative team player
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
