- Provide day-to-day leadership, mentorship, and performance guidance to Engineers, EITs, and Technicians
- Champion and uphold all Safety and Quality standards across branch operations and project delivery
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through project engagement, industry events, and business development initiatives
- Represent the Branch through community involvement and volunteer activities that enhance visibility and reputation
- Prepare, review, and approve proposals to support business growth and project acquisition
- Lead the management and execution of geotechnical and materials testing projects from initiation to completion
- Work with Management and PM's to develop and execute the Branch's strategic plan, ensuring staff are aligned with organizational goals and desired outcome
- Work with the Branch Manager to Develop annual budgets and monitor financial performance to ensure KPIs and targets are consistently achieved
- Conduct site visits, field reviews, and technical assessments as required
- Oversee project invoicing and ensure timely, accurate financial administration
- Approve time sheets, PTO requests, training/education requests, and accounts payable items for the Branch
- Step into any Branch role as needed to support staffing demands and maintain operational continuity
- Provide rapid response and technical support for client emergencies or urgent project needs
- Apply mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on laboratory and field equipment
- Participate in regional strategic planning, business development, financial, and safety meetings
- Work directly at project sites alongside clients to assess and resolve geotechnical and materials issues, delivering practical, hands-on solutions tailored to specific site conditions; safety boots are required
- Registered P.Eng. with EGBC, or the ability to transfer an existing P.Eng. designation
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geological/Geotechnical Engineering
- 8-10 years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience, including work on mid-rise, commercial, subdivision, and municipal/highway infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated practical, solutions-focused approach to project execution and management
- Comfortable conducting fieldwork, site reviews, and engaging directly with clients
- Strong understanding of materials testing, construction quality, and geotechnical investigation methods
- Experience with shoring systems for parkades or geohazard mitigation in wildfire-prone areas considered an asset
